A Poem by BThomvanWart

I don't normally write pieces for the Holidays, but I felt like I should this year. Hope you enjoy, Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

Winter paints a scene in my mind,

Cold glowing stars in the distance.

The sky becomes dark black satin,

A blanket wrapping it’s cold, welcoming arms around me.

I pull my jacket closer,

                Watching snowflakes fall.

It would be a beautiful winter;

If it were winter at all.

Dim street lamps light the way,

Cars pass by once every hour.

If it were warmer,

                This I’m sure,

It could be the start of a beautiful Autumn.

But, the fireplaces are ablaze,

And Christmas is on its way.

I smile to myself,

The chill just that of a frosty kiss,

And I remember to the previous year when I said,

“I’m sick of all this white s**t!”

Yes, I suppose it’s so…

Shovelling what felt like twelve hundred yards of snow.

But, alas, this may be yet another year,

When a white Christmas may not show.

At least the stores sell eggnog,

And the Christmas trees still sold.

May your “Yuletide by the fireside” be all that you hoped it would,

And may the halls be decked with holly and mistletoe.

From my home to yours,

Even if Christmas isn’t a gift you find you can’t return,

I hope the spirit of giving finds you and you get all you’ve earned.

But, should you be without a family,

                A home or a tree,

I still hope the warmth of a stranger finds you

And you find all you could have hoped for

                                Times three.

Author's Note

I think it got a little weird towards the end. Perhaps it was trying to incorporate both Christmas and the whole Karma thing together, but I hope anyone who reads this enjoys! I'm open to all reviews, comments and corrections. Thank you for reading & Happy Holidays! :D
