sweet words

sweet words

A Poem by A.T.B.

are sweet words chained by silence?

are sweet words gagged by defiance?

stabbed after a fight.

buried in the mass grave of our alliance.

forgotten in the folds of time to eternity

as to one another we become strangers.

only remains the hollow sounds of

inconsolable sobs echoing stronger

and stronger

and the unshakable anger.

what are sweet word to you?

a real illusion?

a true lie?

blown out in the everyday confusion.

gratuitous and forthcoming when unneeded,

but scarce like a breath of air to the drowning.

sweet words take the shape of

gracious seagulls

burdened by despair

flying away to the unseen shore.

sweet words soaring over our heads

but never landing,

flying like butterflies

carried by the soft breeze of our love,

suspended by hope, but only for a

second.

then, the breeze dies and

they plummet to their death

unspoken.
