Only You

Only You

A Poem by cad

A girl I used to like
Just passed me on the train.

I don't like her anymore.

It's not how much make-up
Or how many eager boys
She smears across her face every day.

It's not that we never talked
Or that when she heard I liked her
She laughed.

It's not that it's been a year
Since I remembered her.

It's not the boy hanging off her arm
Or her self-deprecating clothes
Or the smell of tobacco.

I don't like anyone anymore.

Woo! Go cynic go!
You've captured a state of mind well, and the little things that trigger it. Works for me.

Pretty dark, Sam. But very good. :) I shall call you soon
