Daylight Robot/Midnight Dreamer

Daylight Robot/Midnight Dreamer

A Poem by Cagan
"

The days are but the hours that keep me from my dreams

"

I am asleep when I'm awake

And awake when I'm asleep

My days are monotonous

My actions robotic

My mood constant

A thinly veiled depression

That covers all I do

The brief moments of happiness

Forgotten the next morning

When I wake up and remember

I must endure another day

I waste away the hours

As a sleepwalking shell

Until I can finally go to sleep

I wait for my dreams

And their wild adventures

My only escape

From this dreary reality

For contest: By Cagan Hawthorne, a female 16 year old student who writes poetry when bored or sad during school. Cagan also enjoys creative writing, drawing, and computer science, and hopes to become a novelist.

I once felt exactly like this--the only thing I looks forward to was bedtime, so I could forget the day and find some joy in my dreams. But I got over it.
