On nights like these, I look up...

On nights like these

I wonder
Why the night sky is empty
I ponder
Why there are no stars.

On nights like these

I ask
Myself if
I can trust
The stars to come back.

On nights like these

I stare
Into the sky and realise the stars have left me
I compare
Them to the people around me.

On nights like these

I’m reminded
That the people around me are not
That different
From the stars.
