One Way Track

One Way Track

A Poem by Colleen A

I live a private life inside my head which no one sees
It's fantasy, it's impossible, but it's richer than the life that I lead
The plans I make to change my ways and live with different ethics
Are plans that never leave my mind and leave me feeling helpless
I always want to change my life and know that it is possible
But change is dark and daunting to those who feel unstable
Beat by beat by beat by beat
My heart keeps chugging onward
And as time passes so does that
Of chances to start all over

a poignant picture of both the isolation each person has to deal with and also the wanting-to-be-optimistic fight each person has to engage in to make her better. That or accept current conditions and be defined by others.

So many live within their daydreams while they try to find a way to become...

I can certainly identify with this. I think we all have that private life inside our heads wanting change anyway we can get it. This is a fine poem that expresses your thoughts and emotions well. :)

I know exactly what you mean I often refer to change you speak of as a large forest that trails off into thousands of direction and each direction leading to thousands more. Even if two paths lead in the same direction the results of your choices and the time it takes to reach them will never be the same. It is a struggle we all must face, to walk around the tall trees with both patients and enjoyment. there should be no dark to race, nor time to judge with in our private fantasy.

Very true words! Thank you for reviewing
Very true words in the poem.

Change is hard. I changed my life completely four times. Each time we gain and lose something. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
