I hate Robert Frost

I hate Robert Frost

A Poem by Lydia
"

I wrote this in tenth grade for an assignment in english class. Originally titled "Mighty Maple".

"

The mighty maple dignified and strong

Sits quietly day and night throughout the

Long and lonely winter months.  Suddenly,

Without a lick of warning, springtime comes.

It strikes hard, fast like a blacksmith's hammer.

The head beats the fiery metal, shaping

The sword.  And so spring shapes the cold winter,

Warming the earth, bringing forth an unknown life.

The buds burst on the mighty maple, all

The while a gentle breeze blows through the

Thick and gnarled brances.  Tiny green leaves shoot

Past the burgundy buds, breathing life for

The very first time.  Something else appears,

Translucent at the start, then gaining color;

A pale green, with minute veins a shade darker.

Scythe shaped, it contains a precious jewel.

Not an emerald, ruby, or sapphire -

Instead the jewel inside is life itself,

A gift from Mother Earth, a gift from
Father Sky.  Within this seed, all the power

Of the universe is harnessed.  And yet,

How would this infinitesimally

Small particle of life sprout to become

A mighty maple as strong as the one

From which it came?  It would float, gently,

On the whispering breeze, and come to rest

On a soft bed of red clay.  Then it would

Wait, silent, for a drenching rain to wake

The life from the depths of dormant treasure.

And a new life of a mighty giant begins.

I must admit that this ones' title truly caught my eye for the most part, but still I really enjoyed the poem.
