Stay With Me

Stay With Me

A Poem by Cari Lynn Vaughn
"

Persephone wants Adonis to Stay With her in the Underworld.

"
                                          Stay With Me

Oh my beautiful perfect boy

now such a handsome man

Come let us adore and enjoy

what sensuous pleasure we can

Adonis be my lover    be mine

Hades is too solemn    a brute

You bring a bit of warm sunshine

a bit of music in a world on mute

I’ll fight against the goddess of

seduction and sexual appeal

From the arms Aphrodite’s love

it is your heart that I will steal

Only time will tell

if you can break the spell

In time you will see

         that you belong to me

Death   my dear   you will find

can be the perfect ecstasy

I know that you will not mind

being forever bound to me

The Anemone petals so blood red

are carried on the wings of wind

traveling here to the land of the dead

your soul is now mine to rescind

Hear me whisper and plead

        to fulfill my eternal need

Adonis come stay with me

stay here and never be free

I was disturbed by the changes in your rhyme scheme...for a moment. Then I decided I liked it that way. Very nice. I like the subject matter, too. Not your average love story, is it? A good job.
