The Trip

A Poem by Joel K
"
More free-verse than I usually go with, I was trying to capture the emotion of it more than a description... Note: should be read with pauses... Also, my most recent work, everything added before this is older and in no order beyond how they were sitting
"

The Trip

We travel along these roads, no destination so no rush; just see where the path will lead. Windows down, I glance up from my book to watch your blowing hair frame your face, my hand behind your head, fingers gently massaging… head turns and eyes meet, small smile. contentment.

My hand on the wheel, other with fingers intertwined in your lap. Rain is falling hard, music low, laughter loud, enchanted by your voice. Soft feel of skin, bright light of smile, curtain of rain surrounds. intimacy.

Hand out the window, floating in the wind, hand on my hand on my knee, you play with my ring. Music loud, voices lifted, smiles vibrant. Your hand on the wheel, arm resting on knee, resting on door. joy.

Stopped, walking, photographs, so much beauty here, look in your eyes, so much beauty there. Bodies pressed, arms encircling, lips connecting… camera forgotten, nature forgotten, world forgotten… bliss.

Heaven in here, sight, touch, sound. Surrounded by world, surrounded by each other. Hours pass as time stops, I lost in her, she lost in me. This road, this world is ours as she is mine, as I am hers. perfection.

Eyes open… just a dream, just a dream… pray I find her, pray I know her when I find her, pray she knows me… head on pillow to sleep, sleep to dream, dream to find her again… longing.
