Blue Nude

Blue Nude

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Pablo Picasso 1902

"
Forlorn she sits for all to see,
a nude embracing both her knees.
Does she regress in time to find
a place of comfort, peace of mind
and feelings of security?

In mourning for a friend's demise,
his brush conveys his deepest thoughts.
On canvas caught in colour blue,
a single shade of lights and darks.
In blended textures, finest strokes,
he fails to cloak his misery.

Picasso's artwork screams out loud,
depression is the blackest cloud.
It blots out sunlight, brings despair
and traps its victims in a snare.

Superbly captured yourself Chris. Behind every painting, there is beauty and pain that the artist sees and feels, capturing all in a moment that which could span a lifetime. For people to think so much of his work that they are compelled to capture it themselves, is true artistry.
Beautiful.

Always thought one had to be either cross-eyed or badly concussed to appreciate Picasso.
Obviously, I know nothing about art; not even sure what I like.
However, if poetry is art, I very much like what you do, Chris.
Making me re-think colorful ole Pablo.

Great painting will bring out emotions in us, that is the same for poetry, including poems like this one.

Some people simply generate kindness and compassion. You can feel its genuine...you just know!
A musical interlude:

Blue nude/I saw you sitting alone/ And you were huggin' your knees/ In an attempt not to freeze./Blue nude/you knew just what I was there for/I'd brought a blanket for you/A sort of makeshift clothes, therefore/ You were so glad to be cared for/That your depression was gone...Very nice writing, Chris!

amazing dear Chris, I always say that You have a fine pen when it comes to describe through words, like a true painter stroking with his brush, and this poem here just shows how beautifully superb can Your brush be, You always give me that feeling that there is no leak in Your words, this gives much strength to Your style along the simplicity You use, it becomes even finer.

oh those blues. you've certainly painted this with strong word hues. your creativity and depth shine through the darkness you reveal. stark, the way you paint him as he painted her. good job ... :)

I love the layers you gave Picasso’s Artwork here. As you proceed gradually, the huddled figure is visualised first, followed by the hues of blue and finally the emotions spilling out! Great work in bringing the painting to mind, so vividly Chris!

You’re welcome Chris. I’m barely acquainted with Picasso so this poetry page was informative.

If you become interested in painting, try Monet instead. Now his art does speak :))
