Melt Down

Melt Down

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Cinquain one sentence, five lines 2/4/6/8/2 syllables with imagery

"
Slow thaw
for ice needles,
as sun glare gleams brightly
illuminating clear crystal's
swan song.

This is beautiful Chris and in my head, the Cranberries song the icicle melts played along to your stunning image, that to me is reminiscent of the cycle of life and rebirth, as well as a moment that is timeless in the greater scheme of things, yet you can't drag your eyes away from its beauty.
A perfect example of how 22 syllables can conjure a thousand in the readers mind.

Ps...stil not here until the festive apocalypse is over, so if santa asks, you ain't seen me :)

for the wonderful, Cinquain.
i felt a real wintery chill as i read this Chris, it took me back to when we had bright, freezing mornings with icicles dripping from overnight frost.
A rare sight now but a lovely image you gave me of the early sun illuminating the crystal clear drops of ice.

It feels like a warm winter while reading this. Wish we could give life to such words for letting these beautiful creatures live peacefully.

Not sure if I can ever get it right the way you and Gee have, in terms of cinquains, but it is lovely and inspiring to read. Love the imagery here. Brevity definitely speaks :)

I can only dream of these images of icicles hanging down which I suppose make the images more romantic as we don't have such weather patterns at Christmas.
