Shattered Memories

A poem about being conflicted

They snuck around wild and free

Oblivious to wrong and right

In the moment they could only see

How two wrongs made it right

 

Their elation could never be seen

Or they would cease to exist

But the scorching thirst between

Much too enticing to resist

 

Oh, so many times they wish they’d stop

So they’d save themselves from shame

With every moan convincing them not

Each kiss a step closer to pain

 

Who knew that lust would soon die

And all the lies would take its toll

Our hearts would lie shattered inside

Though our memories will never escape our souls

Its dark and it keeps me reading Aaron - a commentary on the contemporary friends with benefits culture that people think is the easy way to avoid pain of full time relationships (or at least to postpone same) - having been privy to the inner workings of such an arrangement (not me my friend) I can say you nailed it here.

The affair here is founded on an insincere truth; two wrongs forming a right is never right- it may blossom but for a while, and that's while annihilation befalls the lust so soon..... Nicely written.

loved the oxymoronic qualities held in the phrase "scorching thirst" enjoyed the poem however I feel like the poem is conflicted as it tends to seem like a heart break at times but also like an unwanted love but that's only a minor thing. good work.

That was the point i was trying to make... it was something that wasnt supposed to happen it was unwanted there was heartbreak in the end.... the kind of fucked up lets hook up no feelings no attachment then in the end feeling nothing but lonely. Thanks for the review... really appreciate it!
