Another life Wasted

Another life Wasted

A Poem by AaronFreitas
"

I had to write and get some things out... one of my grandfather's workers was found dead this morning... suicide

"

What could be so bad that you take your own life?

Not leaving a reason, tears fade into the night

You were only twenty years old so much life ahead

Now your family stands around asking why you’re dead

Always so happy, always carried a big smile

Living a life so simple, a life worth while

So what was it that pushed you over the edge?

Grab the gun, lift it up and put it to your head

BANG!!! Just like that you took your own life

Makes me appreciate my sanity, I thank God for life

The reasons are a mystery to those still alive. More than likely whatever bothered him festered over time and ate up all his thoughts. Depression is a horrible thing. A fried of mine committed suicide and to this day, no one can figure out why. From what I've heard, it consumes their thoughts in such a way all other thoughts including loved ones are deleted. Very scary and sad stuff. Good poem.

If this is based on personal experience, I am so sorry for your loss. This reminds me of a really dark time in my life that I'm glad I came out of as a stronger person. Thank you for reminding me that I shouldn't take that experience (and life in general) for granted.

I don't have much to say, but I will say that I like the fact that the words aren't sugarcoated. They're real and choppy, in a way that shows the state of mind you most likely were in. Which translates to the reader in a way that sugarcoated words could not.

A very painful story narrated in this poem. The most precious thing we have is our life, we should treasure it and thank God for every breath. Nicely written.

Thank you very much Shadow Poet :) I appreciate your review
I've been there. I've actually been the suicidal one. The book Thirteen Reasons Why changed my entire perspective on it though. It's an absolutely brilliant book by Jay Asher and I suggest it to anyone, suicidal or not. It gives insight to both sides. I'm sorry if you've had a friend or someone close to you take their own life. I know that it isn't easy to deal with. I'm here for you though. Wonderful write. Thank you for sharing :)

This hits home. My mother took her life in the same fashion. I'm sorry for the loss of a good person. Nobody ever knows why. The demons in others are sometimes more fierce and in higher quantity than in ourselves. Great message about the survivors of tragedy.

You weaved a nice work here, but the pain it leaves on one's mind did not call for much comment on the work itself- R.I.P I say to the departed soul.

I lost two brothers to suicide. Death was sweeter than life. A hard topic. Life is a open field. Some people cannot see the beauty of the coming days. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
