Love is a mystery

You can see it in his eyes he is ready for love,

Feeling like tonight could be the lucky night.

First date in a while and she is looking fine!

But what will he feel at the end of the night?

 

They share many smiles and bursts of laughs…

For a second no painful memories exist.

But as the night slowly withers away,

He starts to pull away and resist.

 

She wants to lay and cuddle on the couch,

So he spends the night willingly pretending…

That this current woman makes him happy,

But it’s only getting closer to ending.

 

Hot and steamy she screams his name,

She’s thinking she’s found Mr. Right.

While thoughts flood his erratic mind…

How he can get rid of her after tonight?

 

He lacks a connection with every date…

Something that is almost unexplainable.

Add this date to the growing list of women

That can’t build any emotion that’s sustainable.

 

They come and they go but they never know

That his heart is closed because his eyes don’t show

He is broken inside though his words do not lie

Love is as mysterious as angels in the sky.

Sad story of love and very well done. This looks to be maybe one of your new open pieces of work??? Anyway I like it. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like stuck in your own head and trying to find someone that wants to see if their key works to get inside.

I definitely can relate to that...you have to be happy and confident in yourself before someone else can as well. And most importantly you have to be happy and satisfied. What you need may differ from what you want...when you can find both, you know you found a treasure, a diamond in the rough. :)

it seems like a struggle of someone maybe in the closet and using sex and women to reject his own sexuality. Whether that's the purpose or not, I enjoyed the anxiety the poem induced and it was easy to read. :)

Hey Annabelle I could see how you could interpret it that way but it wasn't about being in the closet. It was more about the guy kind of being stuck from moving on with love. Just losing interest quick and women not meeting expectations and him kind of just shutting them out before they get a chance. I'm glad you enjoyed it I appreciate your review :)

A classic case of fear of commitment? Sometimes the search for love is harder than finding a needle in a haystack. Sometimes it's as hard as finding a needle in a stack of other needles. yeah what a bummer - !!! all of the expectation, anticipation, excitement at the base of the spine (well thats for women anyway) then finally when it's crunch time - there's no candle, no light - we try don't we, we feed ourselves with quick fix remedies that we convince ourselves will work - but no - they are just another addiction in this funny think called life - instead of going within to assess the damage, face it front on, we stay outside forever looking for bandaids to cover the wounds - - nice one Aaron - - the human psyche be a funny thing innit?
