MY LAST MEMENTO

In a paper box of memories

Name etched in ink

I carefully collect

Stained folded photos

Hand-scratched notes

Souvenirs of nostalgia

Pieces of reflection

Mourning recollections

Happy retrospections

Remiss to reminisce

While I paint the past

In my own colors

Blissful blues

Sunny scarlets

Gleeful greens

Forgetting the grays

My box of mementos

Tucked neatly away

Until one day

I’ll breathe my last

Hands will pack me

And place me gently

 In a box of etched pine

Earth will hold my memory

Marked by marble

Carved with my name

And I shall be my last memento…

intense poetry… the way you have painted it is as usual beautiful to read…
We all love collecting memories of past… to remind us of the moments close to us..
End of the day does it matter what all we have collected…. Its only the moments
that count which took our breath away and the ones which filled our eyes with tears of joy or pain..
that no one will be able to take away even when we are buried or burnt away to be a part of mother earth....but I adore how you classified each item in the box… hehe maybe there should be a will pls. bury my boxes with me..like the Egyptians used to do…… love everything you write... the ones you wrote the ones you are yet to create :) XOXO.....

Odd how important memory boxes can become over time, eh? I began keeping a memory box about a year ago and it's always nice to pick through it on my day off and reflect on all that has happened and changed. I keep notes, tickets, hotel keys, brochures, stickers, etc in mine and it really relaxes my heart and helps remind me of who I am and my creativity. I really love this and it makes me want to keep adding to my memory box and reflecting on life :) marvelous writing as always, my dearest friend!
