My Last Great Darkness

My Last Great Darkness

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

In the stillness of your sanctuary

"

I remember

When it swallowed all light

The first darkness

That crept slowly into the edges of me

Isolation as all else faded

Terror as the night howled

Haunting silences with a fragrance of lavender

Yet I stood

Uncertain, but defiant

And the enlightenment spoke

Showing me that every cell

Every thread of me

Was inscribed with your name

So now I exist

In my last great darkness

The angel calls “Tranquility”

Waiting

Wandering

I sit sighing

Seeking with every breath

To bless you

Seeking my homeland

Within you

Though for now

I am merely

A silhouette

In the transcendence

Of your incandescence

In the stillness of your sanctuary

'.. .. the night howled - Haunting silences with a fragrance of lavender.. '

You have a way of creating thoughts from a palette.. done before but - rarely as graphically, gently or , passionately.

You definitely convey that you love this person in some way. They are incredibly important to you. They are you warmth, your comfort. Those last lines are completely beautiful and the way you seemingly effortlessly rhymed them, adds a little something to the piece. I love it!

Our souls need a homeland too.....we may be citizens of countries, yet we may remain restless.

Haunting, beauty, this one. The unknown for me is always more alluring than the known, even if the risk implies danger......but that is life, hey? :)

This is rare these days because it's difficult, I have to admire your writing skills for that.
In the end I would like to say that this is a beautiful piece of writing and I enjoyed it very much.

I like your choice of words and the sort of development in your poem, from the darkness you describe at the beginning leading to a sentiment of calmness and peace in your closing lines.
"Though for now
I am merely
A silhouette"
These lines really stood out, a lovable crafting of words.
