WE ARE FABLES

WE ARE FABLES

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

Fleeting flights of fancy...

"

We are fables

fleeting flights of fancy

myths with Morpheus our muse

covering us in magic madness

cloaking us with memory's sadness

this hollow face merely my mask

costumed in silken colors of skin

reflections of these stories we tell

the stories we become so well

act by act

scene by scene

day river flows into night stream

living the lightness of this living dream

I’m late

I’m late

for Alice is calling

says the Hatter is falling

and soon we shall be dancing

with the Red Queen lithely prancing

in the shadows of their tales we writhe

before Cronus comes with his scythe

comes and carries us home

home where fables sleep

in dark oceans dreadful deep...

I escaped into such a pretty, magical place. A dream, a fable, a place of madness and marvels. The mystique that abounds in the universe and which every soul needs to revel in. So I wish you such magic and beauty tonite, dear Craig.

Thank you so much. It is wonderful to find rabbit holes and wardrobes to escape through sometimes.
But are they not so wonderful, ridiculous characters that bring such joy ... lovely rhythm and rhyme throughout . Sometimes i think life is one great tea party that we fall into :)

I so appreciate your kindness, Stella, and yes, your tea party visions of this amazing life. :)
Such Lyrical intoxication created by a wonderful mind! I love this fabulous piece where the analogies melt fluidly into the mind of this reader with Potent insight of who we are how we've been shaped through our own experiences of those whom have affected our lives... Did I even make sense there? LOL I love this

Much light to you!
Having a jaundiced eye, I'm still grateful that you painted us more elegantly than I see us.

In your "world", we dance with Queens covered in magic madness...beautiful imagery and your talent shines forth throughout this piece. So glad I read it. I will now hie me home to my Cheshire Cat(s) and contemplate why the Hatter is Mad.

And when you enter the world, you can't get out. Until old Cronus comes, of course. I like your poem, the way you begin with a real-life reflection of our lives as stories, then refer to the actual story of Alice. It is a good job we don't all have to fall down a rabbit hole first!

I'm a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland but I think this fits the theme of your poem quite well. To me it sounds like the false live some lead, hiding who they really are from even themselves

I should have read this one first! How glorious that the universe leads us and provides us with such great beings as yourself to help us through misery. I always feel renewed from your wonderland!

You and your Alice.. i swear you're madly in love with her! (As are many, as you know) You juggle your words so wonderfully here, create the magic and slow. crazed air of her world. We are or should be part of life's fables, creating our own mythical or magical scenes.. what else is there for those might be wasted moments. >> ??
