Shadows

Shadows

A Poem by Champagne
"

Deepest Fears

"
Yesterday they were
beneath three-legged stools
lurking

or my mind playing a trick -
oily lamps paving the way
fearful

as they were.
Is this numbness?
Or the usual mischief

of the mind?
But they come, they come
eating

walls and floors. Shaggy little
beasts. Paralyzing yellow
threats.

My sanity whirlwind
falling into deep crevices
something restful, to be grasped,

still.

listening to the shadows fall , to hear the sound of fear ... psychologically intense writing

A shadow of a thought manifesting into your deepest fear. Your mind plays tricks on you, creating this sense of anxiety....nervousness. A "sanity whirlwind," one could call it...lmao. Great write

"they come eating walls and floors" - as if the only place left to go is the ceiling - that would be up :). i don't know if that was intentional, or if it was the result of a brilliant coincidence, but i love it :). and i also like the choice of you leaving the word "still" to stand on its own in the end of the poem. this is very good wording! :)

Those creepy little buggers, stealing into our minds, gnawing at the edges of our well frayed sanity...
A gripping read...fight those fears!

I think this depicts anxiety well. I would be interested in how you become "still" ...did your sanity fall into that deep crevice?
