New Message—Original Urban Legend

New Message—Original Urban Legend

A Chapter by Steven Cash
"

'Nother one

"

New Message, your phone reads.

You pick it up, and read the short scrawl from your boyfriend. It simply says, “Come into the living room, I have a surprise for you.”

You smile, placing the book on the nightstand and climb out of bed. You can only imagine what the surprise must be. You glance at the clock, which reads 2:13am.

“Rodger?” you call out as you descend the stairs. You see the glow from the TV spilling out into the hallway, from the living room. You begin to turn towards the living room, but then you hear Rodger’s voice from the kitchen.

“Babe, I am in here!” he calls. You, with a frown, go into the kitchen and see him making a sandwich and grabbing a beer. As he passes by you, he kisses you on the forehead and asks what you want.

“Me?” you ask, dumbstruck, “You are the one who sent the text!”

“What text?” he asks. You follow him into the living room as he takes a seat and is quickly taken up into the sports highlights.

“Rodger, you just sent me a text from your phone saying come into the living room for a surprise.”

He looks at you, half in shock and half in laughter. “Are you sure? I haven’t had my phone since I went to the kitchen, and that was 10 minutes ago.

You look at the couch. “Where is it?”

            “Right here,” he says.

But the ‘he’ is not Rodger.

It’s the man in the corner who holds a cell phone in one hand, and an ax in the other.

haha, ya it was creepy, but a little predictable if i might say. i enjoyed it though! it reminded me of this one scary story i heard as a little kid about a murder who pretended to be this woman's dog and he licked her hand. well, she later found her dog with it's head chopped off and the body hanging from it's tail in the shower....she found her dog because she heard the "drip, drip, drip" of the blood hitting the bottem of the tub.
