One Stormy Night

One Stormy Night

A Poem by Chelsea

One Stormy Night

I walk in the woods

Alone, my hand is not entwined with anybodies

I am caught up in the lies I tell myself

I’m ugly, fat, no good, worthless

I take no notice, at the maddening weather

The wind tugs my hair from behind, until it hurts

The skies glower down at me,

Black and blue, beaten, revenge they claim,

Pouring rain upon me

It pelts my face,

Why? I drop to my knees

Confusion sweeps me,

My thoughts wander back to my slamming words

No, no, no, no,

I realize, these to be lies,

Spoon fed to me from an evil force,

I fight back, feeling the lord’s strength

I’m beautiful, good, worth something

I say these words, believing them for once

Truly believing.

yeah! such determination is so often overlooked in our lives nowadays. this was very powerful and strong, awesome work!
and this really proves the power of Rene Descartes's epic quote "Je pense, donc je suis." (that all-famous one "I think, therefore I am").
very well done!

I feel the storm adds some form of symbolism to your feelings pounding you in the face. It was definitely a nice addition, and you formed a nicely written poem.

good write! it is a lie that is constantly in our minds, that we're not worth anthing, but we totally are! we are worth so much more then we believe!
the use of the storm intensifies the battle within yourself. good imagery. well done!

God works in mysterious ways. Self esteem comes from other people's opinion of ourselves. If other people never told me that I was xx (clever), how would I know? It's just weird how simple things can make us happy and how easily people change their minds.

Negative words can take us down. Age teaches us not to pay attention to people with no heart or conscious. I like the positive ending. A outstanding poem.

Most people succumb to the negative and drown out the positive, nice to see the opposite here!
