Love Me, For Real

Love Me, For Real

A Poem by Chelsea

True story.

Love Me, For Real

It was only about my face

Or was it some sick thrilling race?

Not love.

You held me in your arms

Told me I was safe from harm

I felt safe.

Your hands were on ablaze

My skin, they graze

I didn’t like this.

You had planned

To make me your one night stand

But no, this was the end of you and I.

I’m hurt and broken

But I was just a token.

Just a prize.

Just another girl

Not the special pearl

I thought I was.

ah heartbreak. it's a pain that hurts so much i swear i'd prefer physical pain. the idea that you weren't special to this person you've grown to love always hurts. it really sucks if you find out you're supposed to have been a one night stand. that's like adding insult to injury. i can certainly relate to this poem

Something that happens frequently, so sad, the heartbreak that people go through. Good job, wonderful write. Don't force the rhyme, though. it seemed a little boxy with "i'm hurt and broken/i was just a token" and "just another girl/not the special pearl/i thought i was"

Ahh, a heartache felt by many. So important for us to remember that we ARE indeed worthy and unique treasure, no matter who fails to see our worth. Love the give and take in this piece as it shifts from the greedy blind perspective of the ex, to your growing realization that this is not the guy for you. It's an emotional, intellectual and spiritual Truth that hurts with a deep physical ache. Excellent wordcrafting, Chelsea!

It is a shame that someone felt the need to treat you this way. This was a very well written poem..

Love will always stand the test of time where lust will fail every time. Any man who can't wait well they have played their cards all too well. It is hard to tell who uses words and means them and who uses them to advanced an agenda. Sorry he tried to make you into a token, no one deserves that. Great write.

That is so sad. Every girl deserves to be treated like the woman she is. I know people will look at me and say how can you say that. But truly, I'm no casanova, I don't want my lust to lead me I want my life to lead, to prove that I am someone worthy of love. I'm sad that he didn't treat you the right way.

I am encouraged to continue to pursue a woman with a gentle heart and treat her like a precious gift. Let my actions speak louder then these shallow words!

I can tell these emotions are still raw and sting. When you have calmed the hurt I say take a look at this poem again. You are an intelligent girl and can put more description into this piece. I have read many of you other poems. I like this one it just isn't like your others.
