A Poem by Damian Alan Gray
"

for the Fly Who Knew All contest at the Working Writers group

"

If I was a fly on a wall
the things I would know,
the things I would tell,
and oh!

the things I would show.

If I was a fly on the wall
all your life would be mine,
all observed and viewed,
and oh!

all within my eye shine.

If I was a fly on the wall
what ill wonders to see?
your loathing and deceit,
and oh!

your hate and treachery.

If I was a fly on the wall …
and oh!

Worry not, my dear, for the fly has a thousand eyes.

I'm so glad you aren't the fly on my wall. :) This is light while still holding a serious tone of voice, for a fly...

it would've been interesting to be a fly on the wall of that hotel room the governor of new york spent four hours in last month, that's for sure.

i think everybody wishes they could have the power to see and hear all. but that'd be very dangerous...so let's all thank the man upstairs (gus, the guy who owns the apartment building i live in) it's not possible.

I liked the repetition of "If i was fly on the wall...." it was really creative. We all wish that we could be a fly on the wall

this is awesome! its so true, ive always dreamt about walls with eyes, and this has the same idea, except with a fly. i dig it. it would be cooler to be able to fly anyway. haha great job.

I really like this....the format allows it to take on a lyrical quality....it just rolls right off the tongue.

I adore the false reassurance in the last line: "Worry not, my dear, for the fly has a thousand eyes."

Brilliance.
