Sea Scrolls Soul Secrets

Sea Scrolls Soul Secrets

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A jibber jabber poem that I wrote when I had a fever.

"

Sea Scrolls Soul Secrets
Yellow celluloid jello molds

of old cold sea scrolls

folklore stories rest  not in silence,
for they bellow in a low tone.

Their soul secrets

 hide left untold and

fill the ancient,

icy gold chest.

How will they unfold,

 to finally be told,

when no one is old enough

to know them?

Whose force is bold enough

to reveal their dark secrets

that continue to bellow and grow colder?

The whole world is waiting

for the first day they are

out of the cold jello mold of yellow

 to be shown and

told to the mass public.

sold as the Holy Sea Soul’s

ancient truth.

Author's Note

I had a high fever when I wrote this. My friend said it reminded him of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean amusement ride. I used to go the Disneyland and Disney World each summer, who knows? I like the poem for some reason. It's weird though.

Very interesting and very imaginitive. I didn't get the same feeling about the Pirates of the Caribbean. I got more of a feeling that the speaker of the story was the scrolls themselves calling out from the cold, dark depths begging to be found and read. As if the stories the held gave them life and they couldn't rest in eternity until they had passed on the story to someone else.

Very cute, you can feel the mythical tale vibes that are possibly legend and possibly poppy-c**k. I like the mold bits, interesting imagery. Flow and rhythm aren't bad either.

A very catchy piece... it certainly rolls right off the tongue... but I see some deep meaning within the poem... written between the lines I see how people suffocate their true selves in all of the media and societies trends that they complete kill their own spirit... maybe it is just me, wonderful poem.
