Minutes Spent In Dream

Minutes Spent In Dream

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A poem about a little girl day dreaming about being a woman.

"

Minutes Spent In Dream

As I swing

Through the air

Without a care in the world,

Do I dare dream of

What I’ll be when I’m

No longer a little girl?

When the days of satin bows

In my hair and white linen

Baby doll dresses disappear.

Will there be a time when

Afternoons playing

Four square

And red rover

Will really be over?

Will I go to the prom?

Will I grow up to be a Mom?

Maybe I’ll travel to Malaysia

And wear a sarong

Around my rounded,

Curvy hips.

There’s nothing wrong

With a few minutes

Spent in dream,

As I sit in this swing.

Geesh, yes I remember thinking when I was 12, where would I be at 20, 30, 40...oh how the time has flown
