Flooding Waters

Flooding Waters

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A poem about a dangerous flood where hundreds of people perished from the rising waters.

"

Flooding Waters

Drop after drop the selfish rain keeps pouring,

When will this downpour ever end?

This flood will send thousands of people,

Seeking safe places to sleep again.

Babies have been carried away lifelessly,

By the flood's fatal sweep.

Today their mother's weep with pain.

Their heart's can hardly beat,

For they miss the patter of their little feet.

Lord, I pray that you keep the water,

From being so deep today.

This week was the year anniversary of our historic flood in Atlanta. One home that I was pet sitting at was completely under water. Fortunately the cat went to the top floor and waited until the water passed.
