Tracks To My Heart.

Tracks To My Heart.

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A love poem about my crush.

Tracks To My Heart

Your friendship

Meant the world to me,

Our life stories were so close,

As well as our carefree spirits.

We laughed, we played,

We consoled one another,

And spent hours

Chatting each night.

Our friendship was growing,

Blooming like Wild

Red Indian Paintbrush

Along a winding country road.

My hand fit into yours like a glove,

We fed each other with tender words

And a limitless joy for life.

The moment I heard your

 Deep southern drawl,

Read your wondrous words of poetry

And made a soul

Connection with you,

That’s when

My heart flipped

For you!

At that point

I was flying on the

Magic carpet of love

In a mighty sea

Of twinkling stars,

Just knowing you

Were orbiting my Moon.

I longed to swoon in the

Strength of your long arms

And kiss you full, pouty lips.

But an older and wiser muse

Stole your heart away,

Now you are deeply

Embedded in her

Web of love.

You chose the hand of one

That lived far, far away.

Soon I heard you telling me

To crawl back to my cave

Because your heart

Was saved for

Her only.

Maybe the day will come

That you’ll once again lay

Your soft downy head

Next to mine again.

Again you’d share you poetry

Slams with me,

Tales of your railroad days

And your old Alabama

Ways with me.

If not my heart

Is still a blush,

Knowing that

Blood still rushes

Through your veins

While I’m still on

This Earth.

I’ll never be the

Same girl since

You came into

My world.

My heart still

 Beats for you,

My love.

This is wonderfully beautiful...so full of longing and tenderness...what a lovely soul you must posess to have the gift that scribes these elegant notes of beauty! Would that I might inspire such longing through my poetry! Fabulous. And baring the soul is more nakedness than baring the flesh. The flesh can but reveal our flaws; the skin and bones of mortal prisons...but the contents are of much greater worth than the vessels in which they are stored, likewise is the soul. Delightful.

I read the first stanza, and I knew this wasn't going to end well. I love this; it's beautiful. The longing and tenderness is clear, and I'm sure many people can relate to this. It's so hard to let go sometimes...

That's what paint brushes are for :)
Hey, you're amongst friends!!
We've all had these rocky days, rocky relationships
and ... "Heartbreak Station" 's to await.

Love that song by Cinderella. This reminds me of that!
If he didn't know what he had, then surely he is worth forgetting.

This made me smile, even though by the style and past tense, I could tell I wasn't going to end very well. I liked that turn around.

Judging by your author's note, it comes from a personal situation. But rememer, it can also mean something to a reader. Many people have gone through the same thing, so I guess by writing this, we're all naked. ...Wow, that sounds really weird.

Nice write, my friend. :)

Very well written...the pieces closest to our hearts always leave som small part of us exposed, the thats the nature of putting our inner selves into words.

Hm, kind of sad that someone would leave you. You spoke from your heart though and that's what really matters. Nice poem.

What a lovely tribute to Love's past-yearnings, soul mates, glorious moments shared, and memories divine. I have had such a love enter my life, only to take my breath away and capture my Heart forever. Of course I was 16 and she 23 with baby, living at her mother's. It lasted a year-this passionate love of my life, who gave me the world, but alas, as you can imagine, it was not destined to be. What endures though, are all the beautiful sentiments you write so tenderly about here. A passionate prayer for a whole and enduring Love which will always be remembered with gratitude. Excellent write Marie.
