A poem about a breast cancer survivor.

Katherine

My sweet

Angelic friend,

You held my hand when

I needed a caring

Warm hand to hold.

You taught me

How to be bold

When ugly things

You are told

About your

Soulmold.

How frightful

I was when you

Told me you may

Have to go away.

That cancer had

Invaded your

Shapely flesh

Chest.

How I prayed for

You day and night.

I can’t imagine

My life without

You in it guiding

Me through my

Dark tunnel,

Towards the

Shining light.

Now you rage

Against this

Terrible plight,

Spreading your

Bright pink ribbons

And encouragement

To everyone.

Letting women

Know how much

You care and

That you’re

Aware of their

Breast scare.

What a bright

Day it is that

You’re here to

Dare to live

Another day,

Spreading your

Mystical ways.

How lucky we are

To have you with

Us longer as

The world sways.

I'm really glad you friend pulled through, and I'm sure she'd love this poem if she read it. :)

I love this piece...it reminds me of the poem I wrote called Don't Let Your Light Burn Out...pretty much saying that you shouldn't let your light burn out until it is willing too. This poem is kind of like that...when she told her friend she had to go away, but she was able to fight it...this poem was emotional and very beautiful. Thanks for sharing. :)

Words of comfort to others in a similar situation. Often those who have gone through a situation are the best help to others.
