She was his gimcrack,

Jewel of the Nile, a king’s dream,

Once trash, future queen.

So often first wives are discarded for more women that seem more exciting women. This poem is about the marriage and love relationship that culminates after that first marriage. One that is a fuller and richer relationship than existed in the first marriage.
