My Cup of Joy

By chance we met one sunny day

Our fate set into motion

Your affections lifted me up to soar

High above all others

How exhilarating it was

To feel the refreshing

Winds of Spring rush over me

As I rested in your

Arms of steel

Your source of endless

Love gave me the courage

To fly farther than

I had ever flown before

I reached for the

Stars and caught them

I circled the moon

With moonbeam thoughts of you

How was I to know that

You were a mere mortal

That your love had

Its carnal limitations

That I could never meet

Your hungry eyes would soon seek the

Desire and validation of another

When I needed my strength the most

I was broken

At the time when I should

Have been driven and focused

I faltered with my shame

And scattered Thoughts

But every need I had was somehow met

My wounds were dressed

My plate filled daily

This is when the struggle of my life began

The time my life got very interesting

Picking up the fragmented pieces

Of my life again

Rebuilding when you walked away

This is the type of glory that outweighs

All others because it’s the mighty force

Of eternal strength that

Carried me through this time

With this type of mysterious power

Who knows where I’ll go next

Now that my cup of joy is full

I disagree with Jibey's assesment of the poem you were not building on what had been rather you were building on what was at the time that it was happening.
Your poem starts out happy and full of hope for what you believe will be and then gets sad and angry because of the betrayal by your lover a natural reaction.
I agree with spokenwird's assement if someone isn't satisfied with what they have and are always looking for greener pastures than they are either blind, stupid or greedy I have been married, then afterthe marriage failed had a girl friend before I found my present lady Now I know what life was meant to belikeyou have written a wonderful poem here full of truth and meaning

I find when I change my initial wriitng it does not good, in genereal. I think this says what you wanted to say - and says it clearly... How well you are letting Him breathe new life into you and finding fulfilment as you build on what has been...

I am sure many will read it and relate to it too. We fall in love and the person we love we make them into a God or Goddess and then they fall short because they are after all human like us, but still, if he had eyes for others and if he needed validation from multiple women then why settled down with you in the first place. When people are fulfilled and getting all promised to them I never understand their desire to cheat it is so silly to me. I think this a great heart felt write and I am happy that you cup know runs over with joy
