missing you

missing you

A Poem by christina

it's such an intimate thing,
telling someone you miss them.
i've always said it without abandon
because i feel so deeply
and i fall so quickly.
i don't know about you,
but for me falling into a friendship with you
was like puzzle pieces clicking into place.
you're the quiet intensity to my bright effervescence.
together, we make sense.
do you remember the day we stayed after work,
talking in the parking lot for 2 hours?
when i said goodbye you laughed and said
it felt like no time had passed.
my cheeks ached from smiling and my voice was rough
for all the words we shared.
even though tomorrow you'll be there to make me laugh
just like you always do, somehow,
i miss you already.
so when i tease you incessantly that you'll miss me, too,
i wonder if you can hear it in my voice
that it's really a plea for you to miss me back.
in another life, maybe,
it would be very easy to love you.

It is hard to find the words to describe what you feel but you have captured them with minimum effort and pristine. When you miss someone, you are reaching into the depths of your soul to retrieve the piece of themselves that they left with you. Thank you for sharing this. You have me hooked.
