An Enlightened View on Liberty

An Enlightened View on Liberty

A Poem by cityhomeless

Don't be fooled.

Freedom is more than the virtous hopes of our founding fathers.

It is more than the "American Dream", which has been long since dead.

It is more than merely walking the streets without the permission of another.

It is more than freely speaking when you choose;expressing anger or sadness or joy when you choose.

Freedom is the balance between your mind and soul; knowing your place in this life; this world.

Freedom, my dear friend, cannot be handed to you by another.

Seek out your own freedom.

Search for your place.

cityhomeless
Although I mean every word in this poem, I do not wish you to think that I mean to take for granted the many civil liberties I have as an American.
