FRIEND

FRIEND

A Poem by GypsyMoonCat
"

This is for my best friend in the whole world, who I wish could see her own worth and value. And that she finds her Prince, who hides somewhere ... like a snuffed out candle in a cave.

"

My friend is a treasure

a jewel buried

under churning seas of doubt

When I see my friend

I know it is her I can’t do without

She shines like a diamond to me

and yet, this glow she doesn’t see

Convincing her of her own value

is something impossible it seems

When will she believe

that her  unconditional love

to those close to her

is inspirational?

(Even though it is not always returned)

and far too often that love is spurned

You can lead a horse to water

but can’t make it drink

Not unlike what I see in her

and how I wish she’d think

of her own true worth

shining like that jewel

flashing shafts of light

bathing others

While she remains

dancing alone

Who will love my friend?

Who will dance with her till the end?

I pray she finds her Prince -

that one I know she craves

The one who eludes her search

like a snuffed out candle in a cave

One day my friend, one day

all things precious and true

will finally belong to you

About
I write mainly poems, but sometimes do the odd short story or flash fiction. I love poetry, although I'm not keen on the modern three line style, so you won't see many, if not ANY, of those! Been writ.. more..
