The air smelt like a reminder

The air smelt like a reminder

A Poem by likesgreeneggsandham

When will love learn

To sweep itself up

Into that box of unfelt feelings

Lies left for lonely late nights

Could love learn

To forget

Knowingly painting the pictures black

Inking out the letters in your name

Our seconds of nothing not known

That left certain smiles and sounds

And the smell of sweet sweaty summer

All through winter

Maybe if I could

Peel apart the moments

All the what ifs

The how not to go about things

Stop pretending not to care

And not

Wow my neck is sore, my head just spun around like the girl in the exorcist! Fantastic word selection, flow and alliteration! As soon as i figure those things out i will let you know but unfortunately this bunny wears his heart on his sleeves (and I'm a lousy poker player) I gave up trying to pretend my gaunt complexion is a huge tell and it was a fruitless endeavor!!

Perfectly stated, and summed up by the last lines. It always reminds me of trying on my dads suit as a child, pretending to be a grown up, when all you want to do is run away to a darkened room until the ache in your heart subsides, replaced with the trifling matter of ongoing mental anguish.
Ive said it before, but its worth repeating...how on earth did this love lark catch on? But ewually as important, why do we go through it time and again? It can only be the hope of the dice rolling your way at least once, because we should really be living on mars and venus, like the book suggests :)
Beautifully written. Honest, raw and... Oh yes, human.
