Midnight Tears

Midnight Tears

A Poem by Livana Lowell
"

When I wake in the darkest of the night...

"

You never hear me cry

When I wake in the darkest of the night

To see you nowhere in sight

Coming and going like ocean tides

Allowing you to comfort me with numbing lies

I would much appreciate it if anyone has any knowledge about the poetry meter. PLEASE inform me and critic that because I just don't understand. Critic everything else, but the inbalance in the meter is what I worry most. Thank you and have a blessed day.

I'm not an expert with meter, but I really loved this poem. The short, strong words flowed right into my heart. Well done, I loved it.

Well, I'm no expert on meter but I can tell you this- I love this piece! It flows beautifully. It's short and to the point, and powerful in its own kind of way. Very touching. This piece goes straight to the heart. Great work!

This is so beautifully spoken. I loved the form and flow of your poetic voice. (I learned my poetic meter from Dr. Seuss, so i'm not sure if I'm the one to ask about that part!)

Short, simple, well put. Something too many children have to live with, unfortunately.
Good job.

I don't understand why some parents are like that, but certainly know it happens because it happened to me and my younger brother. He was 4 and I was seven when our parents divorced and we were put in our dad's custody. He was gone all the time, out drinking and chasing women, so until our mother took us back six years later, we were home alone---hungry, ragged and unsupervised. Yes, I know just what it's like.

My thought was that this small piece of writing was so deep and meaningful. It was a perfect write. I loved your little intro...
