1. painting the roses red

A Chapter by Jordan Williams
"

song for friend

"

i couldn't see the real you through my rose-colored lenses

if there was ever a real you then i must have dreamt it

you clouded my mind and intoxicated my senses

so i believed that whatever you said you meant it

you filled my life with color then painted my face red

with embarrassment for all the things that i said

where i thought love would grow, nothing grew instead

it turned out i was colorblind and painting the roses red

did i make you out to be much more than you were?

i painted you as a pretty portrait, but my vision was blurred

you're a monster of a man i mistook for an angel pure

you poisoned me with promises, but in time i was cured

my heart was a canvas that you painted red

with anger for all the signs you showed that i misread

no love could ever blossom lying in a dishonest bed

your black devotions were just thorns on roses painted red

i thought you were the one that i need

so i decided to plant the seed

but i see there's no room for growth

you uprooted the seeds that i sowed

watered my eyes with tears that flowed

without help i couldn't nurture us both

my bright perspective now burns crimson red

your garden path is one that no lover should tread

your platter of loyalties were lies that you fed

your bouquet will decay with roses painted red

you pained me as you painted me in hues of faded red

you could have stayed to wash away those shades, but you fled

i wonder how many plucked petals you dried up and bled

in time your heart will dry up too if you keep painting roses red

Your writing is way better than mine. Here's a quote for you from a lyric I wrote called No.235 Comfortably Numb, it regards roses :)

"And my compost will feed all the roses
That you lay on this bed of mine"

As I read your poem I instantly thought of that line. Anyway my favourite bit of yours is this line:

your garden path is one that no lover should tread

Your poem creates really great imagery, I was imagining every line along with pictures in my head.

I enjoy reading but I'm an artist too so when something I read makes my imagination work too then I .. read more
~~Emotionally Done~~

I`m pleased read your work again. This write`s all about love, yeah -- it`s love which puts us into a situation where we find devotions ~~ devotions ~~ and simply devotions with the faded red lips or roses .. Well written write .. it`s all came from your heart. You know what? I love this one stanza :-

i thought you were the one that i need
so i decided to plant the seed
but i see there's no room for growth
you uprooted the seeds that i sowed
watered my eyes with tears that flowed
without help i couldn't nurture us both

~~ Beautiful lines ~~

I adored this write as I always do reading your beautiful stuffs which`re all filled with the ocean of emotions!
