A Story by Wolfe
"

Future, apocalyptic world.

"
“What the hell are you doing here?!” “Manny, mom died in a raid today.” “What? What the hell do you mean she died? She didn’t, you're lying!” “No Manny, I wish I was. I know it’s a lot to take in right now, and you probably won’t believe me for a little while but it’s the truth. I just came to tell you, and give you some things for survival. I left them in your room. I love you little brother, and I always will.” “Wait! I have one question for you. Why did you do it?” “You are so close to understanding the reason little brother. You’ve just got to live a little bit more. I’ll be seeing you.”

As I walked back to my room it’s as if time were slowed down, and my room was no longer just 15 steps away. My thoughts and emotions blurred out my vision and muted my hearing with every step. It’s as if I were a dead man walking. With the only thing in my mind being what he said, “You are so close to understanding the reason little brother. You’ve just got to live a little bit more.” replaying in my thoughts. When I got back to my room I just fell onto my bed, staring at the ceiling. I looked over and saw what he had left me; an apple, a knife and pistol, a backpack, and a note. The note was folded up and on it said “To Manny”, I open the note and start reading it:

“Immanuel Tsuki Fox, the day you were born I had never seen mom and dad so happy in my life. October 17,  2065, the world had gone into a state of total destruction 13 years prior to your birth. I was just 8 years old at the time of your birth and had not known any other way of life than how we live today. I can remember taking care of you while mom and dad went out to scavenge for food and supplies. Worrying all day, and sometimes all night about them. Wondering where they were and scared as hell because I didn’t want anything to happen to them.”  I started tearing up remember all of the memories we had together and kept reading. “As I grew up I learned much more about this world, and how it became the way it did. I found out that the Ocean, used to separate all the Land, and that you would need to fly over the Ocean to reach another part of the Land, or another thing was that people actually got along with one another and helped each other out. Once the Land collided into each other many earthquakes, and hurricanes started happening. The people were all very startled by this, and many people died, and cities crumbled down into nothing. This was the start of the end. For a while, people got along and were still cool with one another. But soon after, wars broke out and devastated the Land and people, these wars wiped out 70% of the population. Anyways Manny, after I left you, mom, and dad, I was 16 and went out on my own to find a way to stop this ongoing war and hatred with all. I found a group who took me in, and I am very close to them, we are making this world better. I’m doing it all for you and mom. Dad wasn’t who we thought he was. I can’t explain it now, or probably ever for you to believe me, so you’ll have to learn the reason on your own. Whenever you decide to go out on your own, you’ll understand and find your own way to make a change. I gave you the best backpack, pistol, and knife I could find. I love you, little brother, even though I know you hate me. I know it’s a week early, but, happy 18th birthday.

your brother, Isaiah Taiyoo Fox”

After I finished reading the letter, I suddenly felt this over coming feeling of sadness, realizing that he wasn’t lying, that mom actually died. I started crying, and thinking about how much I wish I could see her one more time, and how much I hate and resent him. “I will find the reason why you assassinated our father, brother. I will make this world better, and I will find you and kill you.” I folded it up and wrote “To Isaiah” on it, and left on his bed. I took the letter he wrote, the pistol and knife, and put them into the bag, and left home. In my mind never intending to return.

Oh a story in a sea of poems! Very poetic... *Ahem* Anyway...

My review. I think this story has some promise to it. A suggestion I would give would be to make indents and paragraphs.

I really hate when someone has a good story, but no one bothers to read it because of the formatting.

I look forwarding to reading more stories. As they are my favorite things to read.
