HopesA Poem by George Love
Hopes
Anticipation for the one call
The call that never once came
A promise made to one so dear
Not caring to warn, yet ever so close
Was one to break a heart so lone
Without care as one to themselves do live
Not thinking of others who live for love
And dashing one sweet dreams that night
Rather take a chance to find warmth
Lest any feelings found should be true
Numbing without care now as tears do fall
But would only one call fail this promise?
Would kind words ever mend this heart?
Shall one so trusting place their warmth
Into the hands of one so cold?
