Inside the Inhibitions

Inside the Inhibitions

A Poem by Conrad Wrobel
"

Don't do school, drink your drugs, stay in milk!

"

I'm a know-it-all,
A see-it-all,
A can't-believe-I've-done-it-all
Without ever leaving my room.
Be the truth in the hate
For the influential increments,
The inconvenient insolence,
The corruptible coincidence
That there is no God,
But with a little bit of sunshine
The rolled-by-hand makes you feel like a deity,
Infinite superiority,
An outstanding high,
Don't know-one know why
It's so lighter-than-a-feather feel good,
Burn the wood,
Burn the feather,
Burn the bud of infinite wisdom
And sum up the situation.
How high can you fly with no wings?
But gentle upbringings of the one peer pressure,
Number one true better-than-thou-maker.

Don't breath.
When it leaves,
The more is less than it was before.
Open the little door
And inhale through the water,
The one showstopper,
The ultimate intoxicator of the world,
Your world,
Your room with a view of what you leave
Behind in your universal high.
You wave goodbye
From your ship,
Your trip,
You take a little slip into
The galactic rule-breaker,
The physics-unmaker,
The inhibitions shaker,
And relieve your mind from the weight of your peers
On your shoulders.
Let Atlas take your fears
And remove your doubts
As you let out the steam,
The never-ending scream to be free
Of all you have to be,
To leave behind the life you have to live,
And give a break,
As you take from your taker,
Your inhibition shaker,
And believe in the freedom that you newly acquired.
The unsound glee, the wish that it should be,
Giving a little of your mind
For the chance to rewind
Your life to a less painful time
And escape all for a little of your soul at a time.

My rhyme is not a reason,
The pleasure isn't pleasin',
Everything you give away
You will never get again.
So see the truth behind the curtain,
The shrouded visions
Will never be as real
Or unreal
As the world behind the shades.
Open up the gate
And gaze
At all that is yours to conquer.
Escape the escapism
And behold…
The world is borne by another,
Let off your shoulders
The weight that is not yours to bear.
Don't sway from being scared,
Let your fears make you more aware
Of the direction you're facing,
Fast forward but not fleeting.
Accept what is yours
And just keep weaving the pathway of life.
Avoid the smokescreen of diversion,
Just keep turnin'
And drill the hole in your mind
That lets the starlight shine in.
Light the path of awakened intuition,
Just keep trippin'
On the rocky inhibitions
That litters the path of righteousness.
Walk the path,
Don't look back,
And live
The life that is yours,
And only yours
To live.

LOVE IT! You've given this poem everything I could have ever wanted from it. You talked of the beauty and love of being high "with a little bit of sunshine", and the downside "Will never be as real Or unreal". Both need to be explored sometimes.

Very inspirational and something I would be privaledged to read everyday for my own motivation.

Keep up the good work! I'll keep checking in!

This reminds me of Bob Dylan, and is as good as anything I've ever heard or read of his lyrics, if not better, (IMHO!). I don't understand all of it, but I suppose the reference to feathers burning is of Icarus getting too close to the sun. If this is happening to anyone you know, I suggest watching 'The Blues Brothers', and singing along. ;)

How is this piece preachy? I think this is pure honesty and a good life lesson. The ending is fine, I think everything works into a logical and just conclusion when all is said and done. I think that it ties the piece together and caps off all that you had to say very well, and I think that with out this particular ending the piece would hold less life, and the message of it would not be as strong as it is at present. I did like the splashes of rhyme and the conical of a life and what a life should mean. This is a creative and moral write, I enjoyed it.

i liked most of this poem, but the end seemed a little preachy. i understand that the purpose of this was to send a message, but i would try and shorten the last part. doing that could make it seem less preachy.

the imagry was really amazing, though.
