John Carter

I dropped my sword,

Tip to the ground,

Weary I let the steel carry my weight as I knelt,

The rain washed rivulets of dried blood from her gloved hand,

Life still there,

I felt more then saw,

And the cobble- stones just pooled the thoughts and blood,

Now puddles of purple rain , so it seemed ,

The English soil sponging the life it had fed her.

Me still weary wilting the rain washing filling me with a summer brew,

Her memory just sex on the beach,

Me I felt ,

Wished it was more.

A prize, A moment, A cushion for her rapier,A spoiler for her last,

I was those things....

Taking the glove ,the cool slender of her finger,

I slide our ring on her finger, in death,

She will wear what she would not in life.

Can I place the all of us back,contain the whole of it?

To a simple spot in my mind ?

In the library,

On the book shelve of time?

A interesting approach for you - I like it. Alfred Hitchcock meets flash fiction and then you place it on the book shelve of time. :)

WOW! I've actually heard of poppy silver here - but I do not know her personally - this poem is a formidable story - beautifully penned - the images breathe and the thing is saturated with deep emotion - a resolute write. A finality. Well done.

Now and then I used to say ,a red head today, I thought I would try that flash ? stuff, short compact, a quarter- horse of a story, but she trough three rules , A prince song,a vodka drink,the phrase "on a book shelve"
