Child Turned to Ice

Child Turned to Ice

A Poem by Invisible Ink
"

How those old fairy tales turn into reality. Published in The Other Herald

"

I thought

I would never see
a child turn into ice,

except in fantasy.

I loved the Snow Queen
and her wicked ways,
the idea of the shard of mirror,
lodged in a beating organ.
How the tears of the maiden
would melt his frozen heart.

On the news today I heard
about a child turned to ice,
two years old,
whose parents had left him
alone in the snow too long.

His little, warm, beating heart
could not endure the cold

and so, it froze.
