Tasteless Vulgarity

Tasteless Vulgarity

A Poem by Erotic Goddess
"

I saw this picture and thought..that's not necessary, and then I paused, and thought like the writer I am and decided that I was wrong, there was beauty in this picture...an intensity that you could miss if you didn't look closely...there is beauty all ar

"

Can you see the beauty of the things you do not value?

You look around and see that those people aren't touting your values,
and yet, they seem to be living life high and fine, a puzzle for your mind.

Lovers loving other like themselves, something you can't comprehend,
people changing the plumbing they were made with, you're perplexed.

You see faces studded with spikes and hoops and balls and loops,
and ears color coded with gauges and rings and cuffs and studs.

You wonder why people share proudly with the world
things that you feel are not to be shared, not to be proud of.

Judge, Jury, and Executioner is how you see yourself,
you've set your pedestal up high...lonely on your soapbox.

It's clear to me that all you see is simply tasteless vulgarity,
and yet it's sad, what a world of living you are missing
with your small-minded refusal to open your eyes...
and see, that in everything, no matter your view, there is beauty.

First off Steph I saw that pic and am surprised that at first you didn't like it... but glad you came around... you are so right it this profound piece of writing... as it is said beauty is in the eye of the beholder... the problem with many is they let society and the mass media decide what is beautiful and valuable. Like you I let my own mind decided by way of looking with my heart. Great work dear friend.

For me, beauty is intimacy in any form.
Just like this picture, this poem, and this writer.

Very introspective piece. Too true that there is much beauty to see if and when we choose to drop our own prejudices.

Another great poem! I can honestly say that I have been there and have thought these very thoughts. But we can all change and understand the people that surround us and their differences. I myself opened up my mind and learned to overcome the way all humans express themselves differently from me. Wonderful piece!

Sing on girl,

this is wonderful, and so true, so many people hardly give a second thought to anything outside their "box". And it's so sad that they miss out on so much of the riches and diversity the rest of the world has to offer.

What a beautiful slap in the face this is for the close minded. I like the picture a little bit for this piece as well. Your words are not sour as to strike harshly against the people who do not accept change and difference but more of a plead to expand their minds. It is true though bless, for lack of a better term, the ones who have courage to proudly be who they are and not let others say deter them. So I see this as a slap in the face for some and a pat on the back for others. Good job my mysterious minx. Thank you for writing this

I am also surprised that you didn't like this picture as well. I am sure that you can convert any doubters with this piece though. Its main strength is appealing to the power of the picture, and sending the message that love is love, and diversity is diversity.

I'm guessing that you weren't particularly attracted to the photo because the women aren't displaying any emotion...? Just my perception. I remember years back when Madonna was wild and crazy....she was at an awards banquet doing the tongue thing with the woman who played on Roseanne, can't recall the name. I had the same reaction as you did after seeing the photo.

But I really think you've made great point, Steph, which is that of 'free will.' I mean, we only have one life, so why not live like we want to live it. It is ours, belonging to no one else.

Beauty may be found in mostly everything. Judge and Jury are best when left in the courtroom...and sometimes they're not even good there....

I enjoyed this one, Steph.
