Behind the Painted on Smile

Behind the painted on smile there is hatred
When everyone calls her skinny and beautiful
All she sees is fat and ugly

Behind the painted on smile there is depression
Where life and people become too much to bear
And happiness is unattainable

Behind the painted on smile there are scars
Memories from where life was too much to bear
And pain was the answer

Behind the painted on smile there is anxiety
Worrying about what the day will hold
And wondering if getting out of bed was worth it

Behind the painted on smile is fear
Fear of memories too horrible to bear
Fear of falling apart when she needs to be put together

Behind the painted on smile there is suicide
Thoughts if life is worth it
And thinking death is better than life

Behind the painted on smile there is a girl
A girl lost, scared, and confused
Does anybody really care?

Behind the painted on smile there is hope
Because tomorrow is a new day
And that is something to live for

Great thoughts put well. I wonder, do we all have these crazy thoughts from time to time. I think maybe so. More so, I think, when I was younger and still trying to figure things out. I think of all the great times I would have missed out on if I had chosen to end things.
Your last lines say it all. I heard once that tomorrow is always fresh and new with no mistakes in it. I suppose that's true and worth looking forward to, isn't it?
