A Screen To the Past

A Screen To the Past

A Poem by Cecilia Ting
"

Wistful poem

"

In the moonlight, with the window fading away
A wink, and the visual magic takes place

Her eyes like a cat’s, gazing silently at me
Herald the ceremony’s beginning

For love imprisoned, I suffer here

How to explain my actions to those who don’t know?

Listen

And observe this screen to the past

With eyes closed, I rotate in place

I indulge in thoughts beyond your comprehension
Is it summer or winter?  I cannot tell

Time has blurred

I must have stepped on the hourglass

The story of Fate’s rotating fingers
I wait ceaselessly for him to finish
A night spent on his palace’s aging steps

Oh! It’s a terror

Tightly wound in a spiral
I want the world to sleep
I see her reflection in a bottle
What is happiness?
I would apologize until the stars weep

I fall hard

A dancer unseen

Read my eyes
A screen to the past
