Clothes

Clothes

A Poem by cwwood

I put my clothes on

in the morning and then I forget

about them.

My clothes don’t mind,

at least,

they don’t say anything,

but I appreciate

what they do for me.

They work hard

to keep me warm, and

I am a writer,

and I work hard to be

too poor to replace them.

A sweater doesn’t care if you’re poor,

shoes don’t care

if you filled you’re fathers,

but a woman is not a sweater

and you should never

forget that.
