Loneliness

Loneliness

A Poem by Cylis Derrens
"

A poem on loneliness

"

Loneliness

Loneliness
The bottomless pit
Like a stormy sea it rages in the soul
Quietly whispering as it pulls you down

It is ever the opportunist
It waits for when you are weakest
Bringing tears like rain it blinds you
Your body aches but you fight it
Hope and memory is your only weapons

To give in, is to lose forever
In this struggle victory is everything

Like a skilled thief it strikes in the night
It knows your fears and weaknesses

It can bring a proud man low
It can give a desperate man courage

Though it is hated, it has purpose
Without it, we would always be alone
