AccelerateA Poem by Ben Taylor
A speck of mineral and frozen material,
minuscule beside these giants who command my course, I hurtle through the emptiness. The deep tug and pull, the timeless eddies of countless galaxies, gently shape my vast trajectory. I collect stardust in my seams, deep scars left from lingering debris, the lasting litter of this great vacuum. I am worn by unceasing radiance, slowly shaved away by the glittering of innumerable suns. Exhausted. This endless odyssey across the universe, from origin to equator, is tiresome. Gravities of indescribable depth whisper from light years away, inviting me to join in the inevitable compression of all things. I dream of crossing their lightless horizons, of finally being at rest. To cease this momentum; I ache for such a release.
