The Weeping Willow

The Weeping Willow

A Poem by Hebe
"

A tribute to anyone who has endured abuse of any kind.

"

Like a Willow

swaying in the breeze

touched by sunlight

inculpable and unborn

torn from a mothers womb

fragile and pure

left to break and endure

given no direction

each episode exposed to circumstance

she reads her tattered catechism

catching gilded words in rhetoric vibrations

pleading in the darkness

her shadow rocks her back and forth

watching her silent tears stain her soul

the rain pitter-patter on the window

it never stopped

 she counts the days

her black marker crossing out one more day to endure

days turn into months

 months a blurred vision

on the floor

a tattered, sodden calendar of  darkness

time remaines only in the still emptiness

the Willow drapes it's fresh canopy of spring

and the frozen imprints of her new shoes

fade into the weeping tressels

beyond the dwelling of her bleeding wounds

Excellent work, Hebe.

Delicately described and imagined, you have captured the metaphor very well. There is no tree just like the willow to embrace as one's own in those infrequent times of sorrow and loneliness.

I enjoyed the piece. Well written with wonderful use of vocabulary. Well Done.

Hi Dooley, so glad you enjoyed the piece and I always enjoy reading your comments. ..thank you:)
Hello Hebe.

I don't always get the chance to read your work, but now I feel really delighted to review one of your poems.

Beginning with the image of the poem, I really enjoyed reading this profound description of a willow. Personally, I never imagined that a willow can be this beautiful and dramatic, but now you made me see its angelic side.

I don't know if the poem describes a tree or a person...for it may be a metaphor...but you're the only person who keeps this secret, Hebe.

About grammar mistakes:
"remaines"----remains
"it's"------its

Concluding, you wrote a very good simplistic description that I enjoyed to read. But...is the willow one of the earthly sorrows, just like the fir?
