Penning

Penning

A Story by Hebe
"

Inside a writer's mind

"
The pen
my sharp object
inflicts pain
demonstrates emotion
draws lines
leaves dark smudges
droplets of tears
on wet paper
laughter heard from my room
evokes fantasy
look at the moon
opens doors
 dark places
strangles my breath
shredded pages
lost in the word
wandering in chapters
rescuing beautiful maidens and dragons
my mind halters
in alleyways and corners
holding hands with imaginary monsters
floating bodies drowning in sorrow
 lexicon forming
 to find the answers
my glass raises to meet the challenge
words wrestling
sitting in silence
the dawn emerges
and I see light
this love affair has taken flight!

Very relatable piece, Hebe.

In streamlined fashion, you have illustrated just what it means to be a writer; to pick up the quill and go to war on the page, spilling forth all many of emotions and all the tales that our minds can imagine. And when we find ourselves unable to find the words to unleash our imagination, we dwell in a most horrible plane.

Every writer will be able to relate to your story, Hebe.
Continue to take flight as Keats so wonderfully described....."on the viewless wings of poesy."

Fine work.

Thank you Dooley ypur review is always appreciated :)
nice. this reads like a writers creed. if a writer is cut, she bleeds ink. in touch with one's thoughts & feelings - wielding a pen to get them out ...

reminds me of:

"Write while the heat is in you. The writer who postpones the recording of his thoughts uses an iron which has cooled to burn a hole with. He cannot inflame the minds of his audience." - Thoreau

Awww thanks :)
When the mind begin to think. We can wander to a million places. I liked the places and thoughts you shared in the poetry. Sometime we must overcome our mind and our thoughts to see clear and to know what we need. I liked the use of the language leading to strong closing. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

Was my pleasure and you are welcome.
What a wonderful description of how the imagination gradually goes from standing to destination! You'v used words very sparingly but each phrase moves the process along - very skilfully. The ending is just perfect.. '.. this love affair has taken flight' Words do that!
