Alien

Alien

A Poem by Dana Ferguson

The forest is dark and cold,
twigs snapping under hooves of deer.
An owl hoots in the distance,
filling the air with unease.

He sits under a pine tree and looks up at the sky.
There's no stars out tonight.

Sometimes he likes to come out at night,
and put his mind at ease.
He wonders, why is life so stressful?

Stopping his train of thought,
silence begins to surround him.
No twigs are snapping anymore,
and the owl has become silent.

Pressure binds him together,
and suddenly he's paralyzed.
Terror fills his lungs,
but words cannot come out.
He can't hold on much longer,
the fear is overwhelming.

His mind goes black and he's loses the fight.
He's theirs now, now and forever.
