Beat Out Bebop

Beat Out Bebop

A Poem by Dana Marie

Golden flames flying in front of my eyes like butterflies

Silouhettes against the blackening blue sky night

I feel the venom thickening through my veins

I'm on a mission to find a better place

We've fought the world, yet, they don't let us win

Sick of taking what should already have been given

Fireflies invade the night and I miss your wandering eyes

The way you stutter saying your goodbyes

Tonight I just might die

In the shadow of Orion's eye

I know you're waiting somewhere in the distance

Visions blur into a mesh

To form a thought of incoherence

Oh give me repentance

Metal gates like prison bars hold me close but far

You know my name, my game, you play in the same war

Don't tell me that you need some time to think

Because there's less and less each second the faster my eyes blink

The skies on fire in the streaks of golden yellow

I search for someone through the trees but no one seems to know

Where I am.

Tonight I just might die

In the shadow of Orion's eye

I know you're waiting somewhere in the distance

Visions blur into a mesh

Forming a thought of incoherence

Oh give me another chance

Oh forgive me another chance
